This tour will take 4 hours and will cover part of Brunei’s history, religion, culture, heritage and daily life of locals. This tour includes a photo stop outside the royal palace, Istana Nurul Iman (which means “The Palace of Light”) which is the biggest residential palace in the world with 1788 rooms. Visit the magnificently built mosque, The Jame Asr’ Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque that has twenty-nine 24K golden-topped domes (All mosques are closed for inside visit on Thursday and Friday). Also take an enjoyable boat ride in Brunei’s mode of transport on water (water taxi) for a tour in The Water Village or popularly known as “The Venice of The East”, walk around the water village to witness the houses built on stilts to learn their way of living above water. The Brunei Museum: where guests can learn Brunei’s Muslim heritage, view the rare Islamic collection of His Majesty, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, natural history collection, cultures and traditions of the locals, sunken treasures and the foundation of Oil and Gas industry. The Royal Regalia where it is a home to a collection of royal regalia, royal chariot, gold and silver ceremonial armory and most importantly – His Majesty’s jewel encrusted crown which was used during his coronation in 1968.
NB: For Mosque visits, visitors are requested to dress appropriately, and i.e. Non-revealing clothing’s or shorts above the knees. For Royal Regalia, it is recommended to wear socks as you have to take off your shoes and the marbled floors are very cold. Mosques are closed on Thursday, Friday due to preparation for the Muslim holy prayers and certain public holidays. |

This popular tour consists of a leisurely cruise through the mangroves in search of the wild Proboscis Monkey which are found only in Borneo. Before entering the mangrove forest we will pass the famous Kampong Ayer and Sultan’s Palace (Istana Nurul Iman).
This tour is designed for you to see and understand the habitat and ecology of this elusive creature which has excited the curiosity of visitors to Borneo since colonial times. The pendulous pink noses and potbellies of the adult males reminded locals of Europeans, and this gave them their local name of Orang Belanda, or “Dutchman”. Local populations have been decreasing and they need your help to prevent them from becoming an endangered species. Your experienced guide will explain how you can help to protect the proboscis monkey.
Explanations on Nipah palm and Mangrove forest will be given and an opportunity to witness other wildlife in the area. White-bellied Sea Eagles, Great White Egrets and King Fishers are commonly seen. We may be lucky enough to encounter a Salt-water Crocodile or Monitor lizard. Other mammals include otters, flying foxes and long tail macaques. Mangrove snakes and pythons may be observed on overhanging branches.

Day 1 Kuching – Menyang Tais Longhouse (L, D)
Depart by air-conditioned van for Batang Ai reservoir, a 41/2-hour journey through rural Sarawak, passing pepper gardens, cocoa and rubber plantation. En-route, a few stops will be made. Visit the colorful native market in Serian town where a variety of jungle produce such as edible ferns, bamboo shoots and unusual tropical fruits are on display.
Visit a pepper garden and stop by to view wild orchids and several species of pitcher plants. Have lunch en-route. Upon arrival at the Batang Ai reservoir, proceed by longboat (40 minutes) to the longhouse jetty. Take a 30-minute walk to the longhouse. Learn about the jungle and visit a pepper farm before calling in at the longhouse. Be the guest of the village chief (Tuai Rumah) upon arrival at Menyang Tais Longhouse. Experience a jungle repast followed with entertainment, Iban style, in the evening. Stay overnight in the longhouse.
Day 2 Menyang Tais – Tinting Empeliau (B, L, D)
Following breakfast, hike the jungle trails to the river and continue upriver by longboat to Tinting Empeliau. Our destination, Tinting Kara, is the lush forest where wild Orang Utans are often found. Explore the rainforest and have lunch en-route. Return to the longhouse by mid-afternoon. Stay overnight in the longhouse.
Day 3 Return to Kuching (B, L)
Following breakfast, depart via boat to the boat jetty, then overland transfer to Kuching. Lunch is taken en-route. Proceed to Kuching and drop off at your hotel.
